Tenor Christope Crapez studied violin and then voice at the Conservatoire of St-Maur-des-Fossés near Paris where he was unanimously awarded a Gold Medal and a first prize for improvement.
He has performed nearly 100 roles since he began his singing career in 1996 ranging from Desportes in Gurlitt's Die Soldaten at Nantes Opera to Ragonde in Mouret's Les Amours de Ragonde at the Opéra Royal de Versailles.
He also loves recitals and 20th century music and created a production of Britten's The Canticles in France and sang in Janacek's The Diary of One Who Disappeared and Paul Méfano's Micromégas with the 2e2m among many others.
He has worked closely with composers who find him to be an inventive interpreter of their work and with recording companies and music organizations as artistic adviser; these have included Péniche Opéra and the Festival Musica Nigella.
Privileging creation, he is the interlocutor of many composers including Laurent Petitgirard, Betsy Jolas, Pierre Thilloy, Denis Chouillet, Tom Johnson, Vincent Bouchot, Oscar Strasnoy, Aurélien Dumont, Suzanne Giraud, and Patrice Burgand who find in him a inventive performer, musician and polymorph. He has participated in many projects with the Almazis ensemble both on stage and on record.
